Jia Lu, Ph.D.

Staff Scientist, XPS

Jia earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where her graduate research focused on the synthesis and characterization of noble metal nanoparticles. During this work, she gained hands-on experience with XPS. Following her Ph.D., Jia worked as an XPS Scientist at Eurofins EAG before joining PHI. Outside of work, Jia enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and exploring unique local attractions and restaurants.

Zaid Zaz, Ph.D.

Applications Training Engineer

Zaid recently earned his Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering.  His research focused on symmetry-breaking and switchable molecular systems using X-ray and electron spectroscopy. He also received extensive training in ultra-high vacuum systems and advanced surface analysis techniques.  Zaid enjoys hiking and camping, especially in national parks, and visited 13 national parks in a single year.
