Kateryna Artyushkova

President 

Kateryna has received an M.A. Degree with Honors in chemistry from the National Technical University of Ukraine, Kyiv in 1995. She obtained her Ph.D. in chemistry from Kent State University in December of 2001.

She was a Research Associate Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of New Mexico and Associate Director for the Center for Microengineered Materials until 2018.

Kateryna joined PHI in September of 2018 as a senior staff scientist working in Analytical Laboratory with a focus on the XPS product line. She has been promoted to Director of Marketing in 2021 and to Director of Analytical Laboratory in 2022.  The Board of Directors has appointed Kateryna Artushkova as President and member of the Board of Directors effective July 1, 2022.

She has co-authored 200+ peer-reviewed publications and four book chapters. She is a North American Editor of Surface and Interface Analysis Journal. Her hobbies include singing and dancing. She is passionate about “creating valuable information from vacuum” using surface analysis equipment.

Scott R. Bryan

Past President/Advisor

Scott earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 1982, then earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986.

After graduation he spent 7 years at the BP Research Center in Cleveland, OH as team leader of surface analysis. At BP Scott was a customer of Physical Electronics using both the PHI 5400 XPS and PHI 650 Auger.

He joined Physical Electronics in 1993 as Staff Scientist to help develop the first commercial PHI TOF-SIMS product. He was appointed to the Board in 2004 and has held a series of management positions in Sales, Marketing, and R&D.

Scott was appointed Vice President in 2008 and President in 2010. His hobbies include travel, hiking, biking, and golf.

                                                                                                                                                                                            Milo Cumaranatunge

Executive Director of Research & Development

Milo graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

He was introduced to Surface Science doing research with Prof. Ted Kuwana on simulating the chemistry of high-surface-area carbon fiber electrodes at the University Bioanalysis Lab.

He joined Physical Electronics in 1997 as a Software Engineer and later became the Manager of the Electrical Engineering group.

Currently, Milo is the Executive Director of Engineering at PHI.

When he is not overseeing engineering development activities at PHI or in collaboration with ULVAC-PHI, Milo likes to travel, and he writes fiction. Milo is a published author and is in the board at Graywolf Press. 


 

Evaristo Contestabile

Executive Director of Sales

Evaristo graduated from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in mechanical engineering in 1987.

After the mandatory military service, he started his career in 1989 in Italy at Texas Instruments in a DRAM semiconductor fab. He spent there eight years covering several positions from the initial Equipment Engineer in the Plasma-Lithography department to the Metrology Section Manager in the QRA department.

Evaristo joined Physical Electronics in 1997 as Service Product Manager of the TOF product line.

In 2000 he assumed responsibility for all service aspects of the 300mm Auger product line. In 2003, he was promoted to Director of International Service and European Sales Support Manager.

In 2005 Evaristo became Director of Sales and in 2010 he was elected to the Board of Directors.  

                                                                                                                                                                                           Pamela Smith Williams

               Chief Financial Officer

 Pamela graduated from Augsburg College with a degree in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration.  

Pamela joined PHI in February of 1997 as a clerk in the Accounts Receivable Department.   She was quickly promoted to Receivables Manager and has since held a variety of positions in the finance department, both as an employee and as a contractor consultant.   Over the years, her roles have included, various Staff Accountant positions, IT Implementation Liaison, Finance Manager and Assistant Controller.  Immediately prior to her promotion to CFO she fulfilled the role of Corporate Controller.  

Never someone to be without a project, in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her large extended family, reading, writing, gardening and horseback riding.


 

Gregory Homme

Executive Director of Customer Service

Greg graduated from Brown College in Electronics Technology.

He spent six years in the US Navy, and twelve years working at Cooper LaserSonics as a Senior Service Engineer working on surgical lasers around the world.

Greg joined Physical Electronics Inc. Technical Support Group in April of 1996 working on the Auger product line, and in 1999 was assigned to the SmartTool project as the service liaison. He was involved in the installations and support of all the SmartTools.

In 2004, Greg was promoted to the International Technical Support Manager. In 2016, Greg was promoted to Director of Customer Service. 

In July 2019, Greg was elected to the Board of Directors of PHI-USA.
